double glazing help????

:confused:please does anyone know if there are any grants or any financial help available to OAP tenants which will help me to replace my aged double glazed windows and doors which are no longer efficient and let in wind, rain and the units steam up.
I am responsible for these repairs but i cannot afford them any longer as I only receive state pension and pension credits plus some help with rent ( I pay a portion out of my pension).
thank you:A

If you are a tenant it would be highly improbable that you are responsible for repairs replacements for double glazing. Who told you this.
Do you rent privately, housing assc. or council.

Wow, it is very unusual, usually tennants are not respobsible for repairs. Can yu hang on a while, I'm sure that some one more knowledgeable than me about tenancy laws will be along tonight.

Hello, me again, surprised no one has been to your thread.
First have a look at the Help the Aged Site. Then you could go to the CAB, they are great at helping. I am still gobsmacked at you having to pay for your own repairs. Tell you what, when you you go to the CAB take your tenancy agreement with you and let them have a look at it.
I'm sure that anyway there are grants available and they will point you in the right direction - Good luck

Agree with McKneff that it's unusual for a tenant to be responsible for repairs to the fabric of the building. Another useful source of information is Shelter.

It's an unusual situation, but the tenancy may be a secure tenancy with a repairs clause.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
