Encode Audio Stream??

Hi,

I'm hoping someone might be able to help...

Basically, I'm looking to record music streams from webpages - such as myspace (Just from ones I'm allowed to by the artists mind!) and am looking for a freeware program which allows me to do this directly. Have tried searching but got nowhere so far, so does anyone know if this is possible (+for free?). I have got audacity so could route the signal through my amp and back to the pcs line in, (hopefully without too much 'quality' lost as decent amp and leads) but am hoping theres something out there which is a bit less faff!

Cheers,

Andrew

The downloads section of https://www.zdnet.com is usually a good place to find freeware and shareware. Here are a few free ones you can try: link

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ You can record straight from source.
  • kentish - have downloaded one of the programs so will give it a go soon, cheers for the quick reply!

intel - i have audacity (1.2.4b) but didn't know you could use it...or is it just on the beta version (unstable scared me off!) if so can you briefly tell me how, as the sources seem not to include this.

Cheers for the quick replies again!

    Yeah get and keep 1.2.4b

When recording just make sure you have stereo or mono mix selected
from the menu and not microphone, as mono or stereo grabs from the sound card.
