Halifax- Brick Wall

Hi, read the site and a great deal of the forum sometime back after being sick of the Halifax charges keeping me in a cycle of debt. As far as I know, I have done everything correctly as suggested her to try to recover the charges..
I got my bank statements, worked everything out, sent letter and complaint. Was asked to fill in a hardship forms - which I did. And the Halifax despite agreeing that yes- I should be treated as going through hardship, and making me wait 8 weeks for that have said on the subject of their bank charges- tough! Until the gov rules them illigal- I can go hang basically.
Ive ended up in the last six month is a terrible cycle. I got a bit skint one month and their bank charges made it worse. After everything above- this month they have charged me a whopping £300 in charges which I cannot afford. Got to the point that the charges and bills are exceeding my income due to their charges mostly. I am unsure of what to do now.
I have asked them to be reasonable - eg. one £35.00 charge was for a £3.00 excess put on a direct debit without my knowledge and they wont wave the charge.
Ive been overcharged some £4, 500 in hyped charges in the last 6 years- most of that in the last 9 months when my income fluctuated downwards.
What do I do now- apply to the ombudsman or go to one of these recovery companies for help?
Never been in debt until recently- am disspairing of this unfair situation and charges...
Thanks

The recovery companies cannot help more than what you have done necessarily. Do you have priority debt arrears(mortgage/rent, council tax, utilities)?
If you do then you can ask them to relook at your claimed based on income and expenditure and arrears notices. You can go to the FOS but remember to emphasise priority debt arrears0 -
I've just read this and completely agree with bloody Halifax!! My husband has had an account with them for years and quite frankly I just think they are pushing their luck! I fail to understand how they can agree that people are in financial hardship, but then still make you wait til the end of the test case - which we all know can take bloody years!
We need our money back now! Maybe then we'd get out of debt and be able to spend on the high street again and help the economy as a whole!!!!
Sorry - just know exactly how you feel and am completely hacked off too!!0
