BHS Mastercard

I have a bhs mastercard & do lots of shopping on it to get money off vouchers to spend in BHS.
Last week, they had a 20% off shopping night and I had £25 worth of vouchers to spend. I spend approx £155 and used my vouchers. Two of the items I tried to return a few days later, a total of £26 obviously less the 20% discount I was expecting a refund of £20.80.
The lady tilled it up and said I have £16.50 to be refunded!!!!
I queried this and she stated because I had used my money off vouchers, they deduct a proportion of this money???
I stood my ground and argued that these were merely money off vouchers and should not affect the sale at all. After the manager was called and several exchanged, BHS backed down and refunded me the full £20.80.
Are they entitled to do this?? Was I in the right?

Technically yes you were right as the vouchers you had were from what you have earnt separate to the discount event. They may have something in their terms and conditions of the vouchers backing their story up but i would say you were in the right. However, what they could have done is give you £4.30 back in vouchers and refunded you the rest (£16.50) via the method of payment you paid with and they would have been allowed to do that.0
