Restore let me do it that way...

Control Panel add remove maybe.. also check that restore is on, right click My Computer
Properties Restore Tab, and make sure its turned on.

You may have to show updates in Add Remove programs and find IE7

As a happy Opera user I also had a rush of blood to the head & downloaded IE7 Beta.

It totally borked Outlook Express & despite following lots of advice & trying all the usual stuff like add/remove & system restore I could'nt get rid of it.

    I found a soultion via a newsgroup.

If the last post doesnt help then I will post the workaround I was given :D

I'm going nowhere near IE unless I absolutely have to. Version 7 or any other one.firefoxbashingIE.gif

I tried a version and then had a real, real struggle to get rid of it, it knackered up system restore insisted it was there but still tried to load, nightmare, did a search and eventually had to reinstall windows. Good Luck
  • if you have windows xp try using the system restore, if you have made a restore point, otherwise its hard to go back but try the old delete programme in the add and remove panel.

tbh i use firefox now, lot more secure

Got it sorted now with some help from one of the newsgroups. Just for info if anyone else gets in the same pickle!

I have logged in as the user who installed IE7 B1 and the uninstall tells me
    >to 'login as the user who installed'. I am. I did try using my backup
    >Administrator account but had same message. Is there any command line
    >toggles which would allow me to force the uninstall? I'm ready to try Beta
    >2 but I'm blocked.

You need to make a regedit to get it to uninstall

Open the registry and go to the key
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
Right click on Internet Explorer and select New\String Value
    Name the new String InstalledByUser
Give it a value of your user account name

    Close regedit

Now run the uninstaller and it will work just fine
