Sky+ keeps switching itself off.

The last few nights whilst recording one item and watching something else my sky+ box switches itself off. It just goes into standby mode. When pressing the remote nothing works. After leaving it for a few minutes and switching it back on it restarts. the recording automatically starts back up, but all the programm previously recorded is lost. When I view the recording it just states part recorded. Sadly it is out of warranty. Any clues please.

I doubt this is the problem, but on my Sky box (not Sky+) there's a new auto standby option. I don't think it will be that if you are recording but you could try turning it off (if it's on).The View Belongs To Everyone0

I don't think its that because it normally shows a message on screen if it going to auto standby, but will switch it off and see it it helps. Thanks0 -
Having similar issues with our Sky+ box lately - one of the Amstrad models I believe, and probably a reconditioned one to boot. I'll probably end up giving Sky a ring about it through the week and see if I can get an engineer out to it unless I can find anything to try myself.Where there's a will, there's a way to get something cheaper from somewhere else!!0

We had this problem (sky+ going into standby) our sky box was a Amstrad phoned sky and they sent an engineer out who had to replace our box with a new Amstrad box sky did an update which has caused lots of problems with boxes going into stand by and also causing the sky+ box not to record properly our new Amstrad has the old filmware on it hope this helps0

I had this problem on a Sky HD box when they 1st came out. The box had to be replaced.
Maybe you could see if your vents are clogged with dust etc. I always thought my box was over heating as it would crash less often if left out of the cabinet with a desk fan pointed at the vents.0 -
Whilst this maybe down to a faulty box, you might want to try the following which cured this problem for me.
Press the services button, then the sky+ setup from the menu. On the menu there should be an option "Auto standby" ensure this is turned off and see if that helps0 -
