Long story short...
I placed an order totalling just over £1k late last year. The order arrived damaged so I had to take a further half day off work so it could be replaced.
I then discovered that the replacement had incorrect parts supplied.
I had to mess about for a couple of hours putting the damned furniture together to discover that the runners (almost the final part to complete the chest of drawers) were too long. Argos agreed to refund the postage of the items, and my half day off work (as long as I could prove my earnings).
I sent them the letter as requested and it was never received. I then sent a further two letters (neither of them received).
Can someone please give me some advice? I've asked them for a fax number so I can fax it to them as I am fed up with paying to post the letter, and they just won't budge. Anyone would think that I was claiming for £150, when it's only about £30!
HEEEELPPP!!! This is a matter of principle now. They've thoroughly annoyed me now, and I want them to pay!

Recorded delivery - get the name of the person that signed if need be. See them get out of that one!

If I'm honest, I'm just ranting. By the time I've added up the time spent requesting proof of earnings from my Accounts Dept, and the cost/time of writing the letters to Argos, it makes the figure worthless, and the costs even more significant. I really hate Argos cutomer services with a passion now.0

£30 is better in your pocket than theirs. Like what Oracus said, use Recorded delivery and get the name of the person who signed for it, not necessarily the person who its addressed to (there is a charge for this service if you ask RM to get the name of who signed for it). Include in your letter, that failing to respond/take the correct action (include an appropriate length of time, say 14 days) you will take this matter further by going to the small claims court (don't forget to add the postage cost for this letter in your claim)!0

Are they just going to send you new runners, or the complete furniture again?
I know they do not like splitting the packs if they cannot source spare items.
If they send you the complete order again and ask you to dismantle the furniture you currently have I would also claim for the time you have spent putting togther/dismantling the furniture.0 -
They sent a complete replacement the first time (after I'd constructed the majority of it ), and then sent replacement runners the second time after I ranted at them.
Claiming for the time manufacturing the items makes sense. I think I may write a letter, send it recorded delivery and claim for everything.
Cheers for your thoughts.0 -
just wondered if you had heard anything back yet. Hope so!!!

Well in short the answer is no unfortunately.
They sent me a fax number about 10 days back, I sent the fax, and I've only chased them once so far. I got a confirmed transmission so I'm sure they received it.
We'll see how they deal with it. Fingers crossed. I'm not getting stressed about it, but I certainly won't be recommending friends use them in the future. It's a pity as I've alwasy been a fan of Argos.0 -

Haha, i'd rather have AD over our own customer service department tbh, they seem to have taken just palming customers off with stuff and sending em into store, that and giving our private number out for fun
Altho with Argos Direct the best i managed over christmas was 35 minutes on hold to them and thats through our storeline sod knows how your standard customer gets any service out of them what so ever
