HFC putting the boot in.

Have spoken very politely on several occasions to "advisors" from HFC and explained that our debts are being dealt with by CCCS.
Have written (twice) and very politely asked them to remove our telephone number from their systems and conduct any communication in writing as we do not appreciate almost continuous calls left on the answer machine by barely understandable "advisors".
Then today...get home from working very busy, very long extra shift to a letter from HFC to say if I do not get in touch they will issue a Default Notice and charge me

  • I am exactly the same, they keep ringing me, (Iam also with CCCS), I can't even understand them half of the time, I asked the last one if the phonecall was being recorded and they said yes, so I asked them to stop ringing and harassing me when I have asked several times to deal with them by letter only, don't know what good it will do though??

I had the same problem, all their advisors are from India, and most were downright rude. I eventually phoned up HFC in this country and put in a formal complaint to one of the managers, and the calls stopped. However it was hard to get to speak to anyone in this country.

Can I just say that HFC are a completer bunch of ******* *****!

When I was 19 or so, and totally ignorant with money (well more than I am now :p ) they gave me a £1,000 loan over 7 years!

When I went to pay it off early and the interest alone was about £3,000 the manager had to sort it out after I kicked up a fuss! I mean, I know they are there to make money out of you but that was just disgraceful! I will NEVER have any dealings to do with them again!

Leeches the ******* lot of them!

    Me? Never! ;)
  • After a brief stint with CCCS, i decided to go it alone and manage my debts myself. HFC were one of the ones who i REALLY couldn't afoord to pay, (after being mis-sold a Personal Loan Plus account. Yes, it was one of those Horlicks 'How does he sleep at night' times..).

After 6 months, i had a call from their UK office, with these hard to believe words....

Advisor; Hello is that Mr West/

    Me; Speaking!

HFC; Hi i'm calling about your Personal Loan Plus account you have with us. Are you able to pay the (£6000) outstanding balance today sir?

    Me; No!!

HFC;(This bit was almost corporate suicide unbelievable), How about we re-write the loan with zero interest?

Me; (after much working out and seeing that i've got them by their HSBC owned little balls), yes ok. How much is the repayment each month?

HFC; £99 sir, no interest, i will send you the forms in the post

Since then i have stuck to it and it has been no issue. They have shaved £80 off the monthly repayment and the size of the loan is reducing drastcally each month

HFC were never the best company i dealt with, but for some reason i was offered this 'privelige' and things are cool!

Just offering a different side of the coin - it's not all bad, every company has a Darth Vader side in it...

    Cheers

Thanks everyone. This site is so good for making you realise you're not the only one going through this.

sanfrancisco: not having a phone is not an option..we live out in the sticks with no mobile reception. Plus I need the line for the internet.
And I did phone BT to ask about changing our number right at the beginning of all this. The person I spoke to wanted to know why so I said my husband's ex was hassling us (lies, all lies). The person then said did I want to speak to someone who would help me change the number and deal with nuisance calls. He then gave me another number to ring which was an answerphone with no option of dealing with a human
I gave up after that..any good ideas for how to approach them again?

And no...we can't use Caller Display because our exchange doesn't support that facility.

Janey - I had no problem changing my BT number a few years back (in fact I've done it twice). Always allege "nuisance" calls (they take many forms) - I always stress (which is true, BTW) that I work in the public sector and we have to wear namebadges, as I have an unusual surname, I am "easy" to find..... they don't check up, they did it in 24 hours for me.

When we were in heavy debt, HFC were by far our worst creditor. They ended up taking OH to Court to try and get a charging order on our home. Judge had to give them the judgement (he owed the money which was not in dispute) but did not give the charging order. He froze the interest and halved the repayment we were making voluntarily. He said they were too greedy!

So don't give up, fight them to the end and if it goes that far, teh Judge will almost certainly be on your side as far as he can be.
