What insurance to go for?

Well i got a life insurace policy when i took my mortgage out and tbh it quite expensive but covers everything, i have the policy for well over a yr now and like something cheaper as i cant jsutify the amount im paying every month with my finacially situation, i been looking at few options but really cant decided, as i did have full joint cover althuogh my wife only works part time now and im the main earning where as she use to be on more money than me. At the end of the day i want something that cover my mortgage and expensences, if i was ill, accident or disabilty or died. There so many to go for im not sure which is best, can get a single life insurace alot cheaper but agian im not sure if it covers me for illness and accident etc. Those mortgage protection scheme dont seem to bad but i have trouble understanding all the small print.
