I was locked into British Gases Price Protection which came to an end on the 30th April.
I received a letter from BG this week saying that they can offer me a new deal that is called Price Promise June 2010.
This gives me the following fixed till June 2010.
I live in a 3 bed detached with the wife and 2 kids
Tier 1
Supply Area: Yorkshire
7.145 (inc VAT)
Tier 2
Supply Area: Yorkshire
3.396
My Electricity is with Npower.
Any advice on whether to stay with BG muchly appreciated.
I have until may 22nd to stop BG putting me on this tarif automatically.
Thanks for your sond advice.

I think your on it know - as from the 1st May.
You have to the 22nd May to tell them you don't want to stick with it.
Looking at the current prices the ones offered are exactly the same as the current Yorkshire area standard tariff.
The Websaver 3 tariff offers slightly better rates.
Regardless its going to be a big increase !

Well if your thinking of capping till 2010 why not go for fix and fall 2010 ?
Basically it means you will get the benefit of no rises but if they come down yours go down. His Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0 -

Its used as a promotion tool for us CSA's open to brand new customers along with price fix 2010, Standard tariff. I also noticed it wasnt on the website strange. Diffrent areas of BG can offer diffrent deals on just about all utilities we offer to be honest. His Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0

Any inside info as to wheter there any improved tariff rates available based on yearly advance payment based on previous consumption (which used to be an option) that can be offered by CSA's to retain existing customers whose fixed deals have expired ?
On the April 2009 protected tariff there were three payment options - Quarterly Cheque/Cash, Monthly Direct Debit and annual advance - all of which progressivly gave better rates.
Thanks.

Hi mate we do a quartley prompt payment which offers better rates, you are still cheaper than quarterly with ddeb . What I will will do is ask around tonight see if anyone can help with that question. :rolleyes:His Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0 -

Thanks - would be appreciated but all signs of anything along those lines appear to have gone from the website and any tariffs. It seemed to go when the Gas pricing changed from the national structure it used to be to the "regional" system as with Electricity.
The only discounts that appear to be available seem to be applicable to the Standard and Websaver tariffs:
1) 0.196p/kwh off Tier 2 when paying by Monthly Direct Debit (to a whopping max of £8.75)
2) 1.9% discount to a max of £3.75 from the next bill if paying by your quartley bill within 14 days by either Cash/Cheque, Direct Debit or Quarterly Equal Payments (it might be this you refer to ?). You don't appear to gain anything therefore from the first bill ?
3) 4.78% discount to a max of £2.50 if you pay by Standing Order
Whichever way you look nothing too great
