There is certainly a moral obligation to let you know if they can not pay for that length of time.

The problem is, its 7 days before you can open a dipute and they then have 7 days to pay thereafter.

Deffo send by tracked mail (Recorded / SD depending on value) - recorded gives you no more protection than a proof of posting, but it would make it harder for a buyer to claim non-receipt if there is a signature.

They were under no obligation to say beforehand and I've been in this very same situation before.

    .

But surely there is a certain obligation to ensure that you have the funds available and can afford an item before you bid, even if it's not an ebay "rule".

As expected, the buyer didn't pay up after the 10 days. So I lodged a non-payer dispute and the transaction was closed 18 days after the auction ended. What a waste of time. How come ebay will not let me leave negative or even neutral feedback for this 'buyer'. Surely it is only fair to warn other ebayers that she is a timewaster:confused:

Your NPB strike will help stop this buyer having much longer on ebay so you have done your bit to ban him. Most sellers have their preferences set to exclude bidders with 2 or more strikes, so he may well already have a strike and will therefore be unable to bid on most items.

Regular non payers effectively ban themselevs from ebay nowadays.

For any seller who does not have this ban in place please start from here to set buyer requirements to exclude overseas bidders or bidders with NPB strikes etc.

unfortuntaley, as per a previous thread, a buyer has 7 days to pay :( I agree with the OP that it is rude to buy and then say they can't pay until later; why bid???!!!!!
