Hi I was wondering if anyone might have some helpful advice-
I usually make calls to South Africa at least once a week. I have been using cards which up until now have been fine. I was always able to get at least 2.5 hrs per 5pound card which use to cost me 2.50. Since the start of the year they have becme rip off in time for my calls, im only getting just over half the time.
I am currently on a contract with NTL for free evening n weekend calls and line rental.
With this info in mind can anyone tell me off a card that might be cheap to get with good time, OR a company to use straight off the land line without compromising my fone bill too much i.e good rates
Any feedback much appreciated, thanks

Welcome to the MSE forums BargainBitz
The MSE International Callchecker lists two dial-through providers which give a 2p/minute 0844 number for calls to RSA from a BT landline.
It rather depends what NTL charge you for calls to those 0844 numbers .........Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Well, BT call 0844 462 numbers 'G9' rate - 2p/minute at all times.
I can't find 'G9' in the NTL Price Guide, but I can find 'PG9' - 2p/minute at all times. The same?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. NTL charge the same as BT to call 0844 numbers. But they do of course charge a 6p connection charge before you even start.0
