How Much have you saved by swapping to Aldi?

I recently swapped from shopping @ Tesco to shopping @ Aldi. So this week decide to compare via mysupermarket my shopping like for like in Tesco's. Bill from Aldi £20.38 for 22 items, in Tesco it would have cost me £30.53 therefore my shopping in Aldi I saved £10.15.

The bill if I'd shopped in Asda £32.53 and Sainburys £34.88.

I'd like to know if you have all had same experince in terms of reduced shopping bills and anything that is more expensive to Aldi that Tesco?

More Expensive in Aldi:-
Baps 2 for 59p V Tesco Baps 4 for 95p or 8 Baps £1.20
Hair Gel 99p V Tesco 92p

Thanks ;)

I think Aldi is great. We've been shopping there on a weekly basis now for about 6 months and as well as saving money the whole shopping process is much quicker as you dont get sidetracked by 100's of different brands. Who needs to choose between 15 different varieties of baked beans, life is too short

I really wish there was an Aldi nearer to me! The nearest is about 40 miles away and I wouldnt save anything if I went there as the petrol is so much more. Its good to know others are able to save though!

My ALDI is a little far for me too but if I am ever passing I stock up on cereals, biscuits, cakes and Jam - as well as anything else that takes my fancy. I was always skeptical about the cereals but my Dad came to visit and brought some with him and they were quite nice so I now bulk buy when I pass as they are loads cheaper and don't taste that different to me

I would agree Naomi I spend about £20 compared to £30 at tesco aswell. I buy a lot of prepacked salad bags and they are about 30% cheaper than Tesco.

We did a shop in Aldi about 9 months ago or so in an attempt to save money, and found whilst some things were very cheap, we actually spent about the same overall as we would have at Tesco or Asda.

We got similar things to what we would have at Tesco or Asda, but portion sizes seemed to be smaller than their Tesco/Asda own brand equivalents.

The problem I have with Aldi and Lidl is that I love the chocolate too much and because it it so cheap I have to buy it! So I try to only go there when I need fruit and veg or something I really need.

Hmmm, I'm a great fan of Aldi, but the prepacked salad bags in ours always look awful, starting to brown etc...
