Keep the gloss paint away from their hands. Vomit and other such bodily emissions will clean up :money:and a good beating will stop it happening again.

Buy a £6 aerosol spray of Scotchguard and zap the seats and carpets.

We use products from Sunshine Kids Juvenile Products and we have two of these:

On the floor we have the normal carpet mats and also a set of cheap rubber mats from Tesco.

Lidl, Netto and Aldi all sell child products every now and then and are better value than the stuff from Halfords.

Some child seats dig into the seat foam and leave a permanent deformity after a while (well it should do if your strapping them in tight enough!) so bit of old carpet or couple of sheets of cardboard under the seats can help. Doesn't affect safety as its the belts not friction with the seat that keeps them in place.

Kids like to yank on door handles before you have chance to unlock the car, can often break the mechanism, train them to not touch them until you say its unlocked.

If there is some room in the boot around the spare tyre put a couple of sealed 500ml bottles of mineral water in there now. Can be a life saver if you ever get caught with kids in a motorway accident closure on a warm day, or in the winter with all the salt spray and your washer bottle runs dry, enough to get you home safely.

I now try and get leather seats to be child/dog friendly. Doubt I save any money but at least a damp cloth normally cleans the mud off and it doesn't look too awful a year or so down the road.
  • dont give them food/drink in the car

tell them you will beat them if a mess if found
