Mortgage Protection - A new con???

My friend was made redundant in November and because she and her husband have a joint mortgage she decided to claim her half on mortgage protection.
Nat West who they have their account with, have now demanded that she sends them all her job applications and any interviews that she has had or they will stop paying out.
It is bad enough having to claim job seekers allowance and have to supply a snot nosed little twerp with that sort of information.
Has anyone else had problems with their mortgage protection?

And you base this statement on what exactly?
Do you think that if you have a mortgage protection policy and you need to claim, all you do is call up and they send a cheque to your front door every month without any sort of checking at all?
One of the conditions of the policy will be to be able to prove that you are actively seeking work, and registered on JSA. To me thats reasonable enough.

I certainly have not got it written in my policy, ergo they would have a fight with me but thankfully my mortgage has only a few more years to run! - do insurance companies think that everyone is crooked - well of course they do , they are quite happy to rake the cash in every month, but when it comes to paying out they always find an excuse.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Theres no problem if you have nothing to hide.
Have you any idea how much fraudulent claims cost the industry each year?
The insurance company can hardly be unreasonable if, when paying out a monthly sum for cover whilst unemployed, they want to be sure that the insured is actively looking for work.
I for one am happy that without the checks the IC'c do , the premiums on MY policies would all be more expensive to cover those who would commit fraud.I am a Financial Adviser specialising in Mortgages, Protection, Health and Medical Insurance. Seems like a totally fair request by the insurer. It should only upset you if you are making a fraudulent claim.
If you are unemployed then its not as if you dont have the time to supply it.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
