My brother applied recently and he needs to forward on verfiied copies of his passport, credit card / bank statement, wage slip and other details to them before they will make a decision.
He got the same message as yourself. It's more then likely you will have to do the same.0 -
oo maybe then, i just assume its always a no, i much prefer instant desicions, let me know if he gets the card please0

Why don't they just say you have been declined?
Possibly because you haven't actually been turned down ... yet.
Most credit decisions are computerised and lenders give instant decisions and credit limits without the need for further documents, provided that you have a good credit history and your ID etc can be verified electronically via the credit reference agencies.
That said, these kinds of messages are not uncommon and, as often as not, recipients get accepted a few days later.
Very best

Do you normally get instant acceptance when you apply for credit cards then?People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -

yes and limits told online
That's been my experience too, including the Post Office card.
Have you moved recently? If not, have you checked your credit reports lately to see what's on there? For help, see page 1 of the *How to obtain credit reports* stickyPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
no been at same address for a few years, thats why i am assuming its a no0

The reason you don't get automated decision is because it is Bank of Ireland issued card - meaning each and every one gets manually input by underwriters after you return CCA/Terms/I.D/Statements.
They don't usually give automated decisions, certainly not if you apply outwith the normal Mon-Fri office hours.
They seem to work similar to Citi/Natwest/RBS in that you're provisionally approved and then they will send forms. When you return the forms they manually go through it all and a lot of the time they decline as they are hard to get in with.
Once in though - it's peachy :-)
So what will happen next?
a) You'll get a welcome pack with a CCA/Terms and request for I.D/Statements (if you want to B/T)
or
b) You'll get a decline letter
or
c) You'll get accepted and PIN will arrive through post followed by card then acceptance letter
If, however you get option a, where they send the forms then don't assume its 'in the bag' they do checks at the time they receive the paperwork from you and decline a lot at this stage - they are fussy! You can appeal if unsuccessful, I did and passed eventually.2010 - year of the troll

I had the same message when I applied online. I got the PIN number two days later followed by the card, followed by a letter telling me I was successful.0
