Selling my Timeshare

Does anyone know of a reputable company who can sell my timeshare for me please? I have seen an advert but the reviews of the company are a bit dodgy

Take care when selling Timeshare. Be patient, no company can predict when your property will sell. In fact, if any company does, it is a scam.
Legitimate resale agents will offer to market your property, but will not guarantee they will already have a buyer with an agreed price.

Proper system of selling is the' Escrow' method.
In this a third party, generally a member of the legal proffesion, holds the deeds and the cash from the purchaser. That individual ensures everything is okay, then completes the transaction. Much the same as the sale and purchase of a house.

Some companies will either take a percentage of the sale value, or add their commission to the required sale figure before advertising.

Do NOT pay money upfront, or have any dealings with cold callers offering to buy your Timeshare. Could be dangerous to your health and finances !!!!!

You may find it difficult to sell your timeshare, especially in the current economic downturn. We own a week which we are holding on to but last year I was give a week by someone on Ebay as they just wanted rid of their week at another resort. Prices quoted on Ebay are usually what the owners think they should get and nothing like the price that they are actually worth.

We still enjoy using our original timeshare but the 2nd one is now costing us more maintenance charges and we may decide to get shot of it. As it didn't cost us anything we won't lose any cash but we are very unlikely to make anything on it.

You could try approaching your timeshare company and ask if they would take it off your hands but that usually ends up with them trying to charge you a fee. As costapkt says you need to be patient and watch out for scammers.

I reckon in today's market it will be nearly impossible to sell. There are just too many resales and people are being unrealistic in what they expect to get. I tried to sell mine for a long time and eventually just stopped paying the maintenance fee and the company repossessed. It was such a relief just to be shot of the darn thing. We lost about £5000 but that's life. It was prime week( easter) in Orlando, 1 bed apt just a few minutes from Disney. Hope you have better luck but i'm not confident you will have.

Leanne, i reckon i'll be doing the same as you - i'd rather lose it than waste the thousand pounds a year (and increasing it seems) on maintenance fees!

No luck so far from the timeshare company
