Computer monitor volume.

I have a Relysis TV / computer monitor, the volume control seems to have a mind of its own. The volume is controlled by a hand held remote but it keeps increasing the volume itself whilst the computer is on. It happens every few minutes and whilst I try to switch the volume down with the remote it fights against it till the volume is on maximum. Any help would be appreciated.

    conflicting infra red signals?

my tv has that with my old laptop remote, whenever i used it my tv went crazy and did all sorts of stuff. and when you try to counter act it it gets worse.

try turning everything else using remotes off and figure out whats causing it.

If its not that then im not sure what you can do apart from reinstall the drivers for the monitor. (not actually sure if this will help the IR.)

...or cover the IR sensor on the monitor and use windows to control the vol. Is your monitor being hit by strong sunlight?

Thanks for the replies. No, the monitor isn't in strong sunlight and there's nothing else on using remotes when it does it. With my limited knowledge of computers I did think it may be some sort of virus?

well im not sure about that

when it happens does the volume change in windows as well?

if not then the most likely cause is some sort or IR interference.'

Like suggested try taping over the receiver and control the volume through windows until you figure out what it is, as alot of things emit IR nowadays. if it doesnt change anything then its probable a monitor fault, something up with the sound cable or yes maybe a virus.
