joegw - people tend to start threads in the "I won I won I won" forum :)

Yeah i did at the time of winning but I'm going away instead now, so I'm just wondering if anyone wants the tickets.
:) Thanks to all who post comps! :)

Hi all. I know this is in the wrong place and will probably get moved, but I'm posting this here anyway to give you guys a chance to see it!!!

I get a call today which I think is a scam. I believe it was from an online survey I filled out from this forum - possibly one yesterday about broadband connections.

The agent asked for me by name (my satelite/broadband package is in my husbands name). She said my satelite equipment warranty expires today, and would I like to renew.

Luckily I know I only joined my satelite provider at Christmas, so no warranty would run out after 7 1/2 months!! When I pointed this out, she apologised for the mistake and hung up.

I have notified my real provider, and it is not a company they have heard of/deal with.

I called the company - Satelite Customer Care - back and asked them to remove my details.

    Just wanted to warn everyone!!

    Sorry for posting here... ;)

I have had loads of these calls. It has even featured on Watchdog.

Just tell them you don't have sky and never have had and they'll remove you from their call list. You have to be a bit forceful.
If at first you don't succeed try, try, try again.

I too always have had login problems with the UNCUT website and I can usually get round the problem with a little patience and perseverance

however like you I have found it impossible to update my personal details so I have sent the following email to the Editor and Customer Care

I will post here if and when I get a reply
    Quote:
Are you aware of the problems with the UNCUT web site it is almost impossible to login and when you do it is impossible to logout this imposes a security problem as the data can be read by someone else

it is also impossible to update the address and personal information details on the UNCUT web site

if the above data is not made secure and accessible A.S.A.P it is my intention to report this matter to ICO as you may be in breach of the Data Protection Act 1998
Update: Received the following email yesterday
Thanks for getting in touch, and profound apologies,We are aware of the problem and are working hard to fix it, but I've cced our website editor, David, who should be able to help you more.
    Thanks again,
    John
I haven't had any contact with the website editor but it appears that they have been working on the problem as I was able to repeatedly log on and off with ease today I am still unable to update my personal details though!

maybe they will fix this later

if you haven't been able to enter the Uncut comps it maybe a good idea to enter them now just in case it breaks down again

    Best of Luck :)

Anyone got any post today (as there's a strike) and the manager's say there'll be minimum disruption, whatever that means

Is anyone else having trouble entering the Strongbow comp.

When I send the confirmation text I get the reply that the word YES isn't recognised and to try again, but the same happens. Just wont let me enter????

Same thing happened yesterday - no text message yesterday evening so I can't have been entered.

I was lucky enought to win a first prize a few days ago but there is no mention of only being allowed one win.

I have emailed them to ask for their opinion.

    Any ideas

I'm a little concerned about their privacy policy.

I assume that some of the regulars have been using them for a while?

What are they like in terms of amount of information sent/passing on details to third parties?

    Thanks

As long as you tick the boxes to not get communication, you should be fine. I've once had a phone call from one of the magazines asking me to subscribe, but that's all.
