    OK I need to vent...
A lot of posts (when something needs changing etc..) in the comps section have been abrupt and rude (IMO) and I've commented on one but don't want to bump anymore so I'm ranting here instead! They seem to be relative newbies as well which is more surprising. (AL Mac is polite as always so he doesn't count!).
    End of rant.

Hope you don't mean me - I'm trying really hard not to offend when saying people have duplicated and to thank new posters and welcome them to the boards. I always say why I'm doing it (i.e. that we can be disqualified etc if we enter twice). I got a thanks for putting it nicely last night, which I really appreciated :o
  • Hi,

I started comping a couple of years ago and I didn't read the help threads, so I ploughed on and the eventual result is a lot of wins but also a lot of spam mail. Had I realised how much was going to accrue I would have kept a record of who I signed up to - and latterly I have...

Now I'm moving house and I'm worried that loads of spam will still come here. Is there an easy way to prevent this from still going on, or will I need to remove myself from the lists by emailing them all? If the latter - is there a list of "the usual suspects" of comps that send you junk or will it be more complex? Please say no :o:rolleyes::confused:
    2008-2011: £23k of wins
2011 best win: my wedding ring :o
2012 best win so far: iPad 2!!!! Holiday to Austria (given to family member) :j also £100 & 2 wine cases
Thank you so much, all posters

I take it you mean junk mail through the post?

I had the same concern when I moved house this year. I did do a mail redirect for 6 months - and until then I never appreciated how much junk mail I received through the post (i.e. brochures, catalogues, flyers etc). As each one came through I contacted the sender to notify them I had moved from that address and no longer wished to receive mail from them.
When the Royal Mail, mail redirect ended I visited http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/mpsr/ and entered the details for my previous address. I also used another site, possibly this one: http://www.stopjunkmail.org.uk, but not 100% sure. I've no idea if they worked or not as it's months ago that I moved.
:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j

Hi Melli, I don't think your posts about dupes are rude and you do normally say why and give the link so peeps can check their thanks.

Help Please. Can anyone shed light on what this message is on my phone please. http://www.wincast.com/WapPush/redirect.asap?Transld=6618238 I cant access web with on my mobile, tried on lappy but page not available.

I got that too and now I've had another text from them saying they may have 'inadvertantly' charged me and if I text them back they will refund me. Think I'll give that a miss, it sounds like it could be expensive.

Oh no, no, not you Melli. As I said it seems to be newbies (well under 150 posts, does that count?!). Which I find strange as I thought they'd like to be nice to fit in! Some of the replies seems abrupt and I don't really like that.
Thank you to everyone who posts comps! :A

Sorry isitenough - I'm a bit paranoid about my duplicate reporting (when I enter my title in comps using Chrome instead of 'Mrs' it fills out as 'Merge Request Please' :o) I've only been on here a few months and am really conscious of being a relative newcomer and picking up on duplicates. Thank you so much for your reassurance :)

I must agree, some of the 'newbies' (those with few posts) are being really short - I do get cross with those posting 'Isn't this a dupe?' (with no details) or 'Amend the OP' then logging off!

Thanks again - I'm really grateful for your feedback on this

hmm, some 'oldies' can be a bit abrupt & rude as well,
does a post really need bumping just to comment on an extra comma being put in a prize address ?
    eg: i typed..

(Theme Park Tickets - 4 x £50.00 family tickets to Gullivers Theme Parks, Warrington, Matlock, Bath & Milton Keynes)
mistakingly putting a comma between the matlock & bath, considering all the time it takes to do the puzzles, typing & checking have posted answers best i can, does it really matter that a comma was put there by mistake ?
surely someone could just pm me to point it out instead of bumping it from about 10 pages back just for that ?
& would have thought if anyone was interested in the prize they would google 'gullivers' to check it out anyway
