Virgin Atlantic Amex - Any existing customer offers?

My 0% just ended and - at the same time - :rolleyes: - they doubled my interest rate to almost 30%!!! I have now paid it off in full so it is empty. Should I keep hold of the card (and it's generous 10,000 limit) in hope that they will do another deal or just close it down? I called them up and the guy said there were no special deals on BTs available at the moment, so I am just wondering if anyone has had any luck before?? Should I threaten to close it and see if they do a deal or will they probably just close it without hassle?

Keep it. If it's like any other MBNA card, you'll get offers from time-to-time. I've always had them on my MBA cards (though I don't have Virgin Amex). They seem to start a couple of billing cycles after clearing the balance provided I've left it at zero.

Offers aren't as good as "new customer" offers, and your leaving it open might impact your ability to get new credit from elsewhere (depends on the rest of your story as to whether this is positive or negative). Once they've made you an offer it might be possible to get a better one by calling them up.

MBNA seem to allow you to get a new card (and benefit from new customer offers) and then increase the credit limit if it's balanced by a reduction in limit on an existing card.
