Hello
We are hoping to take 3 nights camping at the end of May. We live in Suffolk and are want to go to Norfolk. Due to work commitments cannot really travel further than an hour & half. We have a 2 and 5 year old. I love camping, my husband isnt too sure but the children are easy and are used to sleeping in the tent.
My questions are if you can offer any advice are what sleeping bags would the children need? There are a couple of sale at Argos, 200 gsm?? that means nothing to me. Would that be adequate for May?
We have looked at Breck farm and I was really drawn to the idea of being able to have a campfire. Although there isnt any playparks etc for the kids but hopefully itll be nice and quiet. Has anyone been here.
Any suggestions or thing to do whilst in the area will be greatfully recieved.

Go to a proper outdoor centre and ask advice, or check on the net as to how bags are graded. Decent ones are 1,2,3 or 4 season.
For UK in May and children I'd go for a three season mummy bag - they do smaller ones for children and mummy bags are excellent as they fit snugly and have a hood. Our daughter has one and it was about £20.0 -
We camp regularly with small children - 5, 3 and this year for the first time 7 months!! I find the most useful thing for keeping them warm is a fleece sleepsuit (Bit like a babygrow - mothercare do them up to about age 9) That way if they wriggle out of their sleeping bags they're still warm. Not sure what tog their sleeping bags are - think they might be 3 seasons tho. We're going to Norfolk camping this summer - stopping at Manor Farm camping and caravan site just outside Cromer so will be interested what people suggest there is to do.0

200gsm isn't very warm to be honest. However, you could put a roll mat under them & use a warm blanket over the top.
A good thing to remember when camping is to insulate under you- one below is equivalent to two on top, blanket wise. Have a good trip!Only dead fish go with the flow...0 -
Thanks for the replys. Looks like I need to go proper shopping!! Mummy style definately seems to be the way forward. Children are going to be sleeping on blow ups so hope that will help.0

Just had a look at their website. It looks great!! We may take a visit there. Thanks for the advice re fleece sleeping suits, off to car boot tommorow so will keep an eye out.
An idea for you for a day out is Bewildwood. We went in the Autumn, My children & cousins from France ( 7 & 12yo) had a brilliant time.

try https://www.gooutdoors.co.uk. They are quite good value and you my have a store near you. We recently bought a new tent for a good price. Happy camping!
For God knew in His great wisdom
That he couldn't be everywhere,
So he put His little Children
In a loving mother's care.0
