As the title suggests I will need to clean a white sink.. it looks like it has never been cleaned _pale_ so any ideas on what is required to remove industrial strength
dirt is welcomed!

I find Ajax scouring powder and a scouring pad usually does the trick for me

Hello NastyMatt
We have a plastic? white kitchen sink, rather than a porcelein one. For light stain removal, I use a scrubbing brush with elbow grease supplemented with Cif cream.
For industrial strength stain removal:rolleyes: , I put the plug in and fill the sink to a depth of about two inches with bleach to soak overnight.
If either of these options fail to work for you, try filling the sink with a solution of Ariel Biological Automatic washing powder.

We used to have one and I used washing powder as well. Sprinkle some in the sink, fill sink with hot water and leave overnight.0

To clean specific stains rub with the cut side of a lemon. Rub hard! It's almost magical. If really, really stubborn try and cellotape the cut lemon over the stain and leave overnight.0

Bleach, but you shouldn't leave it in all night, in any strength. It eats the putty that holds your plughole in. Use it neat and swish it all over carefully with a washing up brush.0

I use milton (tesco version) sterilizing tablets for cleaning my white plastic sink 3-4 times a week sink remained white for 5+ years.0

I have used denture cleaning tablets in the loo so i wonder if they'd work on porcelain sinks too?

My father used to work for what was the water board - they used to hand out citric acid, food grade, available from chemists, wilkinson etc. They did this when customers complained that dirty water had stained sinks etc.
This cheap solution is safer than bleach and can be left overnight. We use it also to descale the kettle. The best thing about this is that if you forget and make a cup of tea with the citric acid in the kettle is that you get the taste of lemon and no dangerous chemicals.
A couple of teaspoons in warm water left for a few hours and bingo - reduced claims on the company.0 -
I use white viniger and elbow grease. No problems0
