18 month BT contracts when online stated 12

Anyone intrested in taking a group case to court / trading standards against bt for damages?

They have led people to sign up for an 18 month contract by advertising 12 month ones, this would deem the contract void.

Let me know, cant let the bullys get away with it

There are THREE sets of 'minimum' terms for service. The phone line (12 months), the Calling package (12 months renewable), and Broadband, 18 months contract, with the first 3 months free.

Complicated, I grant you - but nothing otherwise untoward or unfair, so court action would be kinda pointless....

Hi the package does not include broadband so 18 month would not come into it.
  • You still haven't said what contract you are on about but from one of your other posts it seems you took advantage of the old £29.99 connection offer which came with an 18 month contract - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=13661511
This and other offers are not advertised on BT's web-site which generally detail their 12 month line rental offers.
Happy to be corrected if wrong.

No thats spot on.That offer had an 18 month contract on it, as well as the proviso of making a certain amount of calls every month.

I have entered into an online agreement which states is applicable for 18 months, no contractual agreement had been sent to me, upon receiving my first bill the charges are greater than 'agreed' for 10 months I have had numerous problems and am extremely dissatisfied with the way BT handles telephone enquiries, when enquiring into switching the service 'off' as it does not meet with the initial agreement price plan I am told I will hvae to pay a fee plus what BT has billed me for! Please get in touch if you have any suggestions of how to handle a BT case or want some case study information.

Not enough information given here to work out what on earth you are referring to here. I understand it is just a telephone line package but what offer was it? Was it the free connection charge offer? If so just ask them to revert it back to 12 months and add a charge of £122.50 to your next bill ;). If you moved house at all that puts you into another 12 month contract...
