No you cant apparently heating it that way destroys alot of the good stuff icluding things for the immune system and the vitamin C in it which is the whole reason for giving breatmilk in the first place you also shouldn't heat it on the stove as the excessive temperatures can cause the same effect.:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

No, you need to warm the milk in the bottle by standing it in a bowl of hot water.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

As far as I remember (& from a quick google) you are not supposed to microwave (or heat on a stove) breastmilk. It changes the composition & supposedly reduces the quality of the milk, eg. antibodies etc.
We always defrosted or took the chill off breastmilk by sitting the bottle or bag of it in a jug of hot water. Babies don't really need the milk warm, so I was told & our DD would always drink milk that was cool or at room temperature if necessary.

We used to microwave it, no-one told us not to.:o
it was only used when I wasn't there, she was getting the best stuff 'on tap' most of the time. I thought it was safer than having a jug of boiling water sitting, and only needed to nuke it for 10 seconds or so to take the chill off it..
Obviously progress has been made and we know more now than 10 years ago when DD was being fed by her Daddy in the middle of the night cos I was at work.;)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I used to heat it in the microwave-I expressed for almost a year as my ds couldn't latch on.
As long as you make sure the milk gets a good shake so there are no "hot spots" it's perfectly fine.
My HV didn't see any problem with heating it in the microwave either0
