British Gas Arrears
My husband was in business with his partner which dissolved in 2006. His partner carried on with the business, at the time we telephoned British gas to have name transferred . Six months ago we received a phone call regarding arrears on the gas, when questioned they said this amounts to several thousand pounds, this is the first contact from them since 2006 as they say they have had interim payments, not from us, not sure what to do as his partner is saying that the bills are in my husbands name, we have proof that my husband is now not running the business, is this enough. Please can anyone advise what we should do .

Was it a business or domestic account?
When you telephoned, did you get back any written acknowledgement?
It isn't really BG's problem, you really need a solicitor to take the matter up with the ex-partner. If he has any sense, and the gas was supplied to his business premises, he would be very silly to fight it in court.0 -
Do you have proof that your partner and husband went their seperate ways in 2006? I would start with that evidence and see where it goes from there.
When do you think you took your husbands name off the bill? If you have proof - a letter confirming the change or something similar then that would be prrof enough otherwise you might have to raise a complaint.0
