CCard for Euros etc ?

Forgive me for being a bit dim, (its my age you know), but I am going to Madeira in 10 days and have been reading Martins stuff about buying currency etc for overseas. Its got me terribly confused as this is the 1st time abroad in about 20 years and we always took Travellers cheques bought at the Travel Agents.
We have a Nationwide CC, a Tesco CC and an HSBC debit card, We would like to buy £350 worth of Euros to take with us ( I know its cheaper to spend on the NWide CC abroad, but hubby likes cash, hes a bit old fashioned). I always pay off the CC in full each month. With these loadings and interest etc ????? which is the best way to buy the Euros.
