  • Unfortunatly chicken tikka massala is not an authentic indian dish - it was created for the english palate. Therefore the only thing that chicken tikka massala have in common is chicken so its gonna be quite hard to find exactly what your looking for im afraid.

Google for recipes. Try books by curry-king Pat Chapman of the Curry Club.

Incidentally, it's true that the artificial red food colourings normally found in Indian food over here are very bad for you. If you can source genuine natural colourants (eg. Kashmiri chilli), it's much better.

I'm also interested in this recipe. Thank you to the people who have suggested the Curry Queen recipe. However the curry queen receipe doesn't use any cream/almonds etc so willit not be "creamy" like you get from a takeaway? That's the kind of recipe I am looking for (not sure about the OP).

I've made Tikka masala from scratch plenty of times but it's never the red/pinkish colour you get from take aways and it is out of a take away recipe book. It's always a orangy colour. If you like I can post the recipe up for you although it's in restraunt amounts I just cut it down to what I think is about right.

  • try getting "the takeaway secret" by kenny mcgovern, has a rather lovely tikka and tikka masala recipe

I'd certainly be interested. :) I'm not fussed about colour personally. :)
