Try Benefits Now but personally I find the site really difficult to read because it's all in bold type and badly laid out. If you believe you qualify and want to spend the time applying I'd recommend getting assistance from the CAB or social worker etc OR forking out a very small sum (in comparison with the value of the award) for membership of Benefits and Work.

I have used Benefits and Work, and have found it brilliant. There is a yearly cost which is about £20 however it has helped me claim IB and DLA which I was awarded HRM and MRC.

Yes I still may have got the awards with out using the site, but it made it a lot clearer to me on how to fill the forms out.

    Good Luck

Benefits and work is more than worth the money, it's something like £19 for a years subscription, you can download the guides and read them on paper if it's easier, and they have a forum where the advice given is invaluable. I wouldn't have known what to write on further letters I sent when I was in the appeal stage, and wish I'd joined when I first started applying.

I tried to post a link, but as a newbie, I can't. So, trying to get round it, can I suggest a free site that has separate advice for adults and children. It's bhas dot org dot uk

Before relying on BHAS click here to take a look at what Benefits and Work has to say about their advice.

Maybe they finally did shut down?

Wow, obviously I wasn't aware that there had been so many problems with BHAS. I know several parents that have used their advice without anything going wrong for them.

Apologies - please ignore my previous recommendation!

This is useful advice thanks for this my dad has had a stroke and my grandad has gone into a home so I need to fill in forms to claim for the higher rate of attendance allowance for my grandad and to claim for DLA for my dad - sounds like the site mentioned could help me out. I have had the AA form sitting there for weeks now because I am stuck!

BHAS has been gone as a website with their downloadable guides for about 18months now at least
the nearest thing I have found is at the payable benefits and work website

I have to agree with others above, the Benefits and Work site and the guides for members are excellent at helping to claim benefits. I only wish I had found it earlier as I had to go to appeal to get DLA awarded a few years ago. Using the B&W guides certainly helped on my reapplication and my award was made without having to appeal etc.

Well worth the £19 or so it costs to join. (I have no connection with the site other than being a very satisfied member).
