Kitten for my daughter

Hi

My daughter has been on and on about a kitten and i have given it serious thought, never thought it would be so hard to actually find one though, aren't the rspca going on about how there are too many kittens???

Been on their waiting list for one since last summer, any other ideas??? websites???

Thanx

I just googled 'kittens' and the top link is https://www.catchat.org. Now my work machine won't let me open the link, so I can't tell you if it's anygood or not!

You could also google 'animal rescue centres' - I did and this came up http://www.animalrescuers.co.uk/html/cats.html

    Hope that helps.

    Hello carlih1

Have you tried the Cats Protection too?

I hope you find a kitten for your daughter to love.

    Regards

local papers, scoot etc. Not the best way, but these kittens can end up in the local rescue centres when they become too big and no one wants them.

Have you thought of a slightly older cat say 3 or 4 years old? still lots of kitten tendancies in them and I belive more of them

Have you asked at your local vets? They would probably know of kittens needing a new home.

Like Nile suggested, try the Cats Protection League. Our previous cat came from them - cost us a £3 donation and lasted 17 years! Wot a bargain!!!! Current cat came from them too -this time suggested donation had gone up to £35, but included all jabs, neutering and identichipping ( plus 6 months free pet insurance). We've had her 4 years so far and she's lovely! Whether you want an adult cat or a kitten they always have plenty of beautiful cats wanting a home. You have to contact them first so they can check your home out for suitability -they don't care about your housewifery skills btw, thay just want to know you 're not on a really busy road or have lots of big boisterous dogs..that kind of thing.

gumtree.com often have people giving away kittens from large litters
(I have to admit that I can't look into that section on the site otherwise my house would just become cat city)

    Hi

I have seen some kittens in cats protection league in a town nearby to me, but they say they only do certain postcodes is this for incoming cats only?

I wouldn't have thought it made any difference where the cats go to do you?

Have left a message with their answerphone.

Don't just buy on impulse, think about the costs/insurance etc  Too many people buy them then get rid once the pet turns an adult and the novelty wares off

Will she still want it once the cat is older

My daughter keeps asking, but the answer is always no because of this reason

Have you looked in petshop windows because in nearly every pet shop window or somewhere outside or inside the shop there is a pets board where people have got things for sale or free to a good home
Also the vets should have a board like this
I have got 2 cats they are 11 they are sisters we had them as kittens
My daughter wanted a hamster in her room we bought her one she let the damn thing escape out of its cage it chewed her bn carpet and bn bed post we eventually found it curled up asleep after its adventure so we said we will look after it downstairs from now on she was about 8 at the time and wasnt supposed to take the hamster out
But we ended up looking after it until it died i didnt mind because we are an animal loving family but i wouldnt have bought one its only because my daughter wanted it

I definately have given this thought,

We have been on the rspca waiting list since last summer for one!

I have always had a cat in the house and now i am on my own would be good company for me and responsability for hte children.

I do understand what your getting at though, someone i know is always getting and then getting rid of animals!

Going to call the vats when they open.
