I want to make a gift box of 40 random silly things for a friend's 40th birthday this summer. For example she has really small feet so I was thinking of putting in a pair of doll's shoes to represent this. Can you help me suggesting some items, she's married with a teenage son and she likes shopping, curries, alcohol, anything about tudor times, horses, holidays especially beach ones.

If you wanted smaller shoes than dolls shoes you could use some stilettos off a barbie doll?
a casette tape with maybe the number one single from the day she was born?
Make her a newspaper from here: inthepaper.co.uk (this is free as you can save it and print yourself then just roll into a scroll and tie some ribbon)
Do all of the gifts have to be silly?
I have bookmarked this to do for FIL for his birthday from my 2 children. (its not my pic but fantastic!)

Thanks for the ideas, no the pressies don't all have to be silly, for example I'll put in a bottle of red wine, but I wanted them to all represent her life/lifestyle ifyswim.0

I'm not sure, will be something along the lines of preparing her for when she can only eat mush or something similar!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
Does she drive a car? I once saw a wonderful home made 'Old banger drivers kit' which came with labels and included a piece of string (tow rope) an AAA battery (for a more powerful drive), an elastic band (replacement engine) a business card from a taxi firm (to get you back from wherever your car managed to get you to) etc. Was really funny - just wish I could remember all the bits and bobs which were included.“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

How about making your own little joke book - Google 'horse jokes' curry jokes' etc for all her favourite things (plus her occupation) and select a few good ones from each category and make up a little book. You could also search Google images for a really appropriate cartoon and blow this up - possibly even frame it for her.“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”
