Does anyone have any personal experiences of these two areas? Where would you rather stay in Koh Samui? Which beach is better?
I am booking my holiday independently and have found lovely looking accomodation in these two areas.
We are 1female & 1child travelling in case that makes any difference! We shall also be island hopping quite a bit (domestic flights and trains and what nots)
TIA

We stayed in Bophut in Feb and had a fab time, the main street has great places to eat and drink and some lovely little shops, however the the one draw back is the beach, were we stayed it was sharp sand and the water had coral and so u couldnt really swin, the beach does get better the further into boput but still isnt great. We hired a car and went up to Lamai and the beach is much better, we didnt stay there for the evening but seemed lovely.
Both places are great, Bophut is charming and I felt safe walking around on my own however if your looking for a great beach then Lamai is definatly the place.
Remember Samui is fairly small and we hired a jeep for a couple of days so we could go to the better beaches.
