Hi! Can anybody help I have booked a holiday to Egypt via Freedom Direct, booking flights, accomodation, transfers and travel insurance with them, I only booked it on 15th April they took the monies on 16th April and suprise suprise they have gone into liquidation. I paid using my visa debit card, am I covered I am so stressed!!!!

Hi, I am in as similar position. However we actually flew to Cancun on 26th April and only found out after we arrived that they went into liquidation. We had to pay again for all our accomadation and transfers etc as they had not been paid for by Freedom Direct. Amazingly the Hotel Knew 4 weeks before we flew out that this was going to happen as they cancelled our reservations with Freedom Direct, but knowone told us !! I am going to try to cliam via Section 75 on my Credit as this looks to be the best way. An absolute nightmare as we were stuck in Mexico when this happened and could no get much help anywhere. Hays have bought up there client list but not their Debt so no use trying to claim from Hays if you have already paid

Visa Debit card payment should be recoverable through Chargeback process. Not a lot of bank employees are aware of this feature so take some evidence of it to the bank with you or persevere until you get someone who is familiar with it.
