choosing postage

I am thinking of selling a jacket which I think could sell for between £20 and £60. I know that normally standard post only compensates up to £36 so if it sold for £20 that'd be fine but if it ended up selling for say £50 I think I would need Special Delivery.

So what do I put in the listing in the postage section to deal with this?

Compensation is now £39 since the price rise so you should be OK with 1st class recorded as you wouldn't get the full amount it sold for if it went missing. You could always offer SD too in case the buyer wanted it urgently.

Just work out the SD cost and put something close to that in as 'Sellers Standard Rate' for postage cost.

If it were me, I would price it as recorded & then if it sells for alot over £39 I would send by Special delivery & swallow the extra costs with the extra profit made. That way I hopefully wouldnt scare potential buyers away with high postage.
