Generaly if its in school time wait till last minute if you are not bothered either where you go or just want a cheap get away. If its a bank holiday or school holiday if you see a deal book it ..why not post what you want and your budget (max) and see what can be found.
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel

As savapenny says...if School Hols/Bank hols book NOW whilst flight prices are low as if you leave it till last minute you'll probably pay MORE or be left with a crappy allocated on arrival deal.

If outside of School Hols & you are not fussed where you go, leave as late as possible, be as flexible as possible with Airports to go from, destinations, etc & AIM TO BOOK on the Friday/Saturday or Sunday (if you have the nerve!) to fly the next day through till Thursday (Mon-Thurs departures are hardest to shift).

This is the basic rule of thumb but can of course change subject to availability/demand, etc...Classic example-late bookers for last August. Hardly ANY availability & what was left was way overpriced. I heard so many times 'but last year I paid...' etc...it changes every year. Also, I know moneysaving is what this board is all about but if you get a good price BOOK IT! Remember, once you get in to May/June, etc the eats left on the flight may be as little as just, say 6 or 7-which could sell IN A MINUTE. So....if you play the 'haggle' game you may just lose your dela as the seats have sold! Especially applicable to last minute deals. Hope this helps!
