Hi...I am looking for a new laptop to use for business and pleasure!!!!!!!(hopefully). I want to use it for e mails, photos etc...not really into serious gaming but would like to record dvds etc.The range is baffling to a novice geek like me...which is the best processor to go for...to give me good speed etc? Looking forward to getting your advice. Cheers

Hi,
For general email/web browsing you wouldn’t need a beefy processor, however for dvd recording, that may need to recode video files, in this case you'd probably want a slightly powerful processor. you haven’t specified your budget and whether you’d like a portable laptop or a desktop replacement one.
If you have the budget, have a look for Intel Core Duo processors.0 -
I don't know why I typed laptop!!! I'm actually looking for a Desktop..(shows how much I know)...Budget up to £6000

As far as processor is concerned, get an AMD Athlon 64. Maybe a 3200+ or a 3500+ if £600 is your budget. It's generally a better cpu than the equivalent Intel's at that level. Basically has overall better performance, runs cooler, uses less power, is cheaper etc..."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
