Nationwide are introducing charges on using their visa cards in some foreign countries.
When you use their Visa debit card to make transactions in certain currencies other than sterling, Visa charge a fee which Nationwide currently pays on your behalf.
From June 1st N/wide will start to pass on this fee. The fee is currently 0.84%. From July 1st 2009 the fee will increase to 1%.
The fee does not apply to sterling transactions and only payable on transactions in currencies outside the Visa Europe region. For details of the countries affected:-

Thanks for the info. Sorry about the duplication but I did do a ' nationwide' search on this overseas foreign travel forum and it revealed nothing regarding this relatively new fee
