I'd definatly agree with trying to get a Lloyds TSB account. I havent held a bank account for around 9 years, and am on benefits. ( all money got paid in and out of partners account therefore I didnt need one )
I have some bad debts, but I was still approved for an account. I was overjoyed ! :j

strange i opened a basic bank account with barclays last week and my only income is IB & DLA. previous to this i had one with hsbc just changed to barclays as they offer a visa debit card with their basic bank account.

They do?! I have had a basic bank account for some time and have never been offered/allowed to have a Debit Card. Makes it very frustrating for the things I do online, as I have to use either my partners or Mum's cards for anything I want to buy! :(

Morporkian - I am with Barclays and I am on benefits and I have a visa card. Initially I just has a cash card but I noticed one day on my statement that it said visa cards were available, so I went into the bank and I didnt even have to sit down and sort it out, a member of staff just took my acc no and sort code and said she would arrange for the card to be sent - it arrived 4 days later. :j

Thanks Mickev! :D I have asked every time I have gone in to talk to them about something and they have always said no to me *sulks like a 2 year old* Maybe it is because they are silly country folk? (joke)

I shall pop in during the week, when I am up at the high street, and see what they say :)
