Here is one of the comments in the Times Article:
"I recently received two identical cards when my existing card was replaced by the bank. One of these identical cards was delivered to the wrong address. If the recipient of that card had been dishonest there could have been a second card in circulation without me knowing anything about it. Scary".
(Click here - it's the 5th Comment at foot of page)
I currently have several copies of an identical barclaycard - I'd reported that the replacement hadn't arrived, and assumed they would send a different number card, or at least change the CVV - luckily both arrived at my address!0 -
In March my First Direct Visa card expired and in April so did my Maestro card. On both occasions the courier contracted by the bank couldn't deliver them because a signature was required and I wasn't at home. They deliver Monday to Friday from 9 to 5.
On the first instance I rang First Direct to say that happily I had a job and it would be prudent for them to assume that all their customers had one as the vast majority of people do. Delivering cards (and requiring a signature) only during working hours seems a rather stupid idea.
In the event I arranged with them to have it delivered to my local HSBC bank where I then went to collect it. In the second instance I had to ring First Direct again asking them to do the same thing.
I've never had problems with my FD account, but I sometimes wonder whether certain jobs actually require a lack of intelligence.
They insist on sending your first card via their rubbish courier (who are even so secure, they don't even bother to leave a calling card, or indeed press the buzzer - I live in flats  ) but they will send subsequent cards via Special Delivery or branch collection if you kick up a fuss.
For my debit and credit card, I've had problems with the initial delivery. In both instances, I've waited in all day and haven't heard one peep from the buzzer, and having rung the courier's phone number, they lie and say that nobody was in to sign for it! Bunch of lying gits (their courier company, secure mail services - you are named and shamed!!!!!).0 -

I never use hole-in-the-wall any more as it's just too risky. If I need cash I do a bit of shopping and get cashback from the supermarket now.
The PIN can only be changed at the ATM, but you can use the ones that are inside the branches.Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Someone took nearly £2000 out of my account £20 at a time & the card company said I must have given someone my pin
I didn't even know my pin because it was a card I got to do a balance transfer onto with 18 mths interest free & I'd never used it
Needless to say,I wish I hadn't bothered
They insisted I was responsible & would have to pay it,
I refused & let them default me, the 6 yrs is up in march 2010
I know you hear some bad stories abut Barclays but I have never had a problem with them & if I use my card several times in the same day, they always phone me to make sure the card use is legitimateThe object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane — Marcus Aurelius0
