Ben Shaws/Cott Beverages

Ill try and cut a long story short.
Bought a 1litre bottle of Iron Brew from Asda a while ago and the it was overpowered by sterilization fluid which caused illness. Wrote an email to ben shaws who passed me onto Cott Beverages in Kegworth. They sent me a box for the bottle and i posted it off. After hearing nothing for weeks i rang them and they said it needs to go to ben shaws in bradford. I got the bottle back, along with an apologetic letter for not being able to help me and a £2 postal order as a gesture of goodwill. Their customer service is fantastic.
Rang ben shaws and spoke to John Hodgson who said someone would come out to see me. Nobody had rang or called so i followed it up and asked when. He said he would come to see me personally saturday (today). True to his word he was here by 10am, had a coffee and asked if i wanted some pop they have just brought out.
He gave me 3 bottles each of iron brew, orange, jamaican ginger beer and american soda. I then discovered he was actually the managing director of Shaws soft drinks!
He only has saturdays off but came to see me about my complaint in his own time which i thought was very good of him (as most companies just want you to send it off) which i told him. I am now awaiting the lab results so we will see whats happened.
Ill update this as the information gets to me.

Wow, I'm surprised at your home visit! Good on him on helping you with your complaint on his day off.July Win: Nokia 58000

That is impressive, but on the other hand you could have been seriously ill and he has given you £2 and a few bottles of pop. You sound like you are really just concerned that others might get ill and I'm not suggesting they compensate you further, but Ben Shaw's are lucky you didn't go to the council's Environmental Health dept and ask them to look into it.
Well done for persevering though, and good on him for making a home visit. It shows they are taking it seriously at least.0 -
My partner actually works for Cott Beverages, though not at the Kegworth site, I know they do put a lot of effort into flushing the systems through and they are very big with quality control, so I can only assume that this was just a rogue batch that got through.
but it's nice to hear of good customer service on here for a change.0 -
Hi Jo, the bottle was actually from the bradford site, nothing to do with cott as it is the glass bottle instead. I give credit where credit is due, no matter how small or large the business
Spuds, this is true however the £2 was for cott being unable to help me and the guy offered me the pop to try before we got down to talking about the issue properly. Hopefully when i get the results back if it is their error then something better will be offered as it involved 2 days off work (restaurant). However i didnt want the public having to spend 24hrs on or near the throne.4 years of entering competitions daily and not a thing won. What a fix.0
