Spend less time searching for minor malware and goto your performance options and check 'adjust for best performance'.
Stop everything that is absolutely necessary from starting up on boot (start>run>msconfig> untick boxes in startup).
Check how much available disk space you have left and list your hardware specs. Please support my thanks button if I have been of any help

TICk these in hijack and FIX them ~

The 2nd ones a nasty TROJAN so your quite right to look for 'minor malware'
Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD NOW')
http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html
UPDATE and FULL SCAN
Post the log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
Uninstall THREATFIRE. Theres really no need for it with you using Avira:idea:0 -
thanks garz but i really don't think that's my problem everything had been running smoothly up till last night. alienrik, have ticked them two items and re-ran a malawear scan, it had picked up Registry Values Infected: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\Run\Lsass deleted it and ran a scan again now says its clear. should that be the end of the nasty now then? I installed threat fire as per your instructions last time I had a problem but will get rid if its really not needed. is there anything else i need to do? thanks again as usual you always manage to help fix thingshas been around for a while but always learning,0
-
yeah id say your ok
:idea:0 -

Are you sure this is a trojan and not a WORM? These are actually quite different in how they replicate and behave.
Secondly if you are using a good antivirus and not visitting dodgy sites/ downloading unsourced software then the user has to be more careful. Slowdown on machines is not soley due to virii and malware, often lots of bloated software and poor practice is to blame.
Good luck maggie anyhow, sorry my post was no help. Please support my thanks button if I have been of any help

thanks alierik im pleased that it seems to have gone garz its not that your post was no good to me throughout this site by reading other peoples problems i have started to understand comps a wee bit more. i just knew it would be something nasty as my brother had been on it last night and bam it slowed right down etc....of course it wasnt himhttp://images.moneysavingexpert.com/images/forum_images/smilies/cool.gif thanks againhas been around for a while but always learning,0

Id recommend using FIREFOX with the NOSCRIPT plugin. Sounds to me like your brother was visiting.....erm.....(un)desirable webpages

NOSCRIPT will stop any infections coming through the internet:idea:0 -
yes i had that on already lol I have learned a lot from other posts that you have done alienrik ;-) im thinking he has tried to download something averia has stopped it and he panicked lol. however is it defently ok that averia is saying that i have 9 hidden objects? i know they were not on my scan the other dayhas been around for a while but always learning,0
-
No id say thats not ok if they wernt there before
Im guessing either hes tried to download something OR hes let something THROUGH noscript (Like a 'video'
or whatever)
Please run COMBOFIX
Follow the simple instructions it gives
Post the COMPLETE log it creates here (Split into sections if need be)
If it comes up with a RENAMING error then RIGHT click the exe file and RENAME and call it QWERTY (Making the complete file name 'QWERTY.exe'):idea:0
