most timer switches, say on the packet 'not to be used with energy bulbs'
so i wouldnt recommend using those just put in a low watt ordinary bulb.
its do to with energy bulbs being like a small flourescent bulb, which shouldnt be switched on and off.
if you have a few scatter them around the house ie bedroom lounge and dont put them all on at the same time!
ive read somewhere you can also get a bulb that looks like you have a tv on! clever but prob expensive0 -
you might want to check that you rhouse insurance is ok with the house being unoccupied for that long - lights coming on or not
i'm fairly certain that unless it is decalred and accepted that you will find your house and contents insurance will be invalid if the house is unoccupied for more than 6 weeks at a time....
enjoy the trip0 -
I initially missed the fact you were going to be away 6 months to a year - I really think that in that case, you ought to look at some other arrangement. I wouldn't sleep a wink knowing I'd left anything on that long.... I'm bad enough when we go away for 5 weeks, mind you, that is because we leave 21-yr old son no. 2 home alone...
Hope you have a great trip, by the way - get it sorted out well before you go, then you can really relax and enjoy the adventure!Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0 -
