Hi
I want to open a saving account bank account for my wife which she manage online and via atm cash card. Problem is she have send her documets to home office for visa extension and it will take at least 1 month to get back to her.
So is there any way to open a bank account with cash or maestro etc card so she can use in store as well.
She have all the bills and council tax bill with her at the moment.
Please advice.
Thanks.

This is taken from Barclays ID requirements but I imagine most banks are the same. Instead of a passport she may also use:
- Passport in old name (must have supporting document regarding change of name, eg marriage certificate, Decree Nisi with birth certificate or Deed Poll document).
- UK driving licence: Paper version - full licence only. Photocard version - full and provisional.
- Blue Disabled driver's pass (must be current).
- European Union member state identity card.
- Firearms licence (must be current).
- Police warrant card.
- UK Armed Forces ID card.

If you don't have any of the IDs then just ask them what other evidence of your identity they will accept.0

You won't get a savings account with a debit card like Maestro (or Visa) as there aren't any. There was Egg Money, but I think they've discontinued that now. You will need a current accouunt, or a basic bank account, if you want a debit card to use in shops. Of course, you could use a current or basic bank account as a savings account, but I wouldn't recommend it as most of them pay little, or no interest.
If you specifically want a savings accounts you will only get a cash card for use in ATMs.0 -

You say savings account bank account. Which do you mean? If a savings account you can get a Yorkshire Building Society Internet Saver which you manage online and can get an ATM card for cash withdrawals only. BUT they do require you to send ID documents.cheeky-virgin wrote: »Hi
