There's no such thing as severe DLA, only low, medium & high rates of care allowance & low & high rates of mobility allowance.

However there is something called severe disabilty premium which is an additional amount payable if the person is on at least middle rate care dla & lives alone & has nobody acting as carer to them who claims carer's allowance.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Theres also Severe Disabilty Allowance which is an old benefit which was designed for people who were 80% disabled or who had various passport benefits.
This was aimed at those who had been too ill to work and pay national insurance benefits and therefore unable to claim Incapacity Benefit.

AFAIK it no longer exists unless for those who have had a continuous claim since the award of it and in those circumstances it could still be in payment.

People can get SDA and have it topped up with Income Support but as you say it stopped for new claims a long time ago.

Just checked it ended in April 2001 for new claims.

Maybe she is confused about what her daughter is in receipt of. Easily done it is a bit of a minefield.

Exactly how am I a Troll ?? I would love to know

from the JCP website - 'if SDA was awarded prior to April 2001 payment could continue'

As in all benefits, if they were correctly awarded prior to a change in regulation payment continues until such a time that a change of circumstances means that they would cease. So it is more than probable that SDA would still be in payment with or without an IS topup

Why would you start a thread just to say that someone on another thread is talking about severe dla and it does not exist so they are a troll and a lier. To be honest i find this very bad practice. People make mistakes that does not make them trolls or liers. Maybe you should try helping and not poke holes in peoples cries for help.

:T I agree with Scooby, why has the OP got such a big bee in their barnet  about it anyway? Not very nice practice and I bet the OP would be first to complain having found themselves on the receiving end of their actions! Some people
