If you're looking to build a site from scratch using web coding have a look at http://www.w3schools.com/ they have excellent guides. If you're looking for a WYSIWYG program have a look at Kompozer (http://kompozer.net/) which is free and very easy to use. Short of spending a LOT of money on Dreamweaver you can't go far wrong0

+1 for that. I have made a brilliant site using this in the past. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

the only problem, is the bad bad html it gives you when creating a website.. it might look ok, but it's badly programmed
</h1><h1><br></h1>
so, you're ending a tag, starting it again, having a line break, and ending the tag... really bad programming that way.... (in my opinion)0 -
its not exactly bad programming, its just redudent code in that case.
The generated code is very messy, like the 32 span close tags in a row.
but to be honest what is considerd 'good' code isn't the most important thing when building websites. Beauty is skin deep remember.
unless you're doing major seo then coding becomes way more important.0 -
it is bad programming, because it is messy and non seoable, (ooh, a new word!)
load time isn't a factor any more these days, but it used to be, so clean tidy code was the way forward back in the day...
as for a business website, anything that isn't easily found on a search engine won't get many hits... so therefore, what's the point of having a website in the first place if it is only going to get 1 hit a week?!
