Seems a bit pricey, we seldon use the gas fire, heating/water not heavily used.
3 bed detached about 10 years old.
521 units used on the meter which is billed as hcf.
This converts to 16452 kWh used
Can anyone tell me if this seems correct or is it possible we are being billed incorrectly?
Thanks,

Hi guitaruser-
I think this is on the high side for 10 weeks! Your cost for your kwh are very similar to my own but i only had approx 13000kwhrs for 6 month winter period in a 2 bed semi-detached with kitchen appliance and my gas ch was never off!My units usage for period was 1157. obviously some discrepancy. methinks over- estimation on your suppliers behalf.

I am thinking that they may have charged me imperial, when I am on a metric meter. If so that would make it somewhere in the region of £130 ish I think.
I dont know though, just found the imp/metric issue when I fished through the old threads.0 -
Using my trusty new spreadsheet and using npowers prices per kWh I get a price of £328.90 for that period. I hate to say it but it seems correct to me.

My Nov-Feb was 658 units (7607 kWh) - £157, heating on around 10 hours a day. Sounds like you might have a conversion error.0

I have indeed got a metric meter, and have been charged imperial. So once Transco have confirmed this I will be issued a new bill.
This has been a real pain for me having just been made redundant it was extra stress I didnt need, not to mention about 5 calls to Powergen off my mobile at an average of 10mins per call (used saynoto0870.com), but they dont know that.
Is it worth asking for a discount? :undecided
Maybe a change of supplier is in order, maybe its an easy mistake to make? I dont know and I shouldnt blame them?
Main thing is it is getting sorted out  , it just annoys me that I had to find out and tell them the problem :wall:
Thanks to all those who helped :beer:0 -
Have you had your meter changed recently or has it been metric for a while? If its been metric for a while and they have only just started charging you imperial its obviously a !!!!-up their end and I would ask for some compensation if they have upped your monthly payments. Although if the're sending a revised bill then maybe you haven't paid anything extra yet so not really lost out.
Sometimes when they change meters it takes a while for it to filter through to the supply company.0 -
We only switched to them at the end of Dec. So I think I'll just put it down to experience.0

They probably won't offer you compensation if they can get away with it, but on the whole compo usually comes to about 10% if you can get it. It's worth a try. it's clearly their error when updating their systems with the metering master data from the previous supplier. It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

OK your post made me think. I am paying £134 for gas a month with BG. I live in a 3 bed detached, no gas fire, gas cooker, gch on all day (I am at home with baby) and sometimes at night. I have only been in this house for 3 months and the bills are not estimated. I am currently switching to Ebico but I wonder if something is wrong here....I have to work out how many units I am using.0
