What is it with Italy?!

What is it with Italy - Sold a very collectable CD at a good price on amazon - I saw it was Italy and my heart sank - Anyway as normal contacted buyer Immediatly and on dispatch - 2 days later had an email asking when I sent it as it hadnt arrived yet?!!!

I replied stating when I sent it as in original dispatch and that there was very little chance of anything getting to Italy in 2 Days!

Anyway today looked on my seller account and had a negative. Apparently the item is fantastic but the postage was slow.!?

It must have taken 7 days to get to them. I think thats quite impressive for Italy as it seems to have the worst postal system in europe.

I know I got a very good price but wish there was someway of blocking Italy of the european seller list.

Oh well Rant over

I recently had a very similar story but with a Finnish buyer. On 2nd working day had a rather aggresive email asking where their item was and on working day 6 got a neutral to say item was great but seller's posting very bad .

Having had similar problems with Italians, I've come to the conclusion that they think their mail service is quick and efficient...but we know differently! A week is good for Italy.

Send it ISF and I find around 5 days the average. Send it ordinary airmail and it's pot luck!

  • i had someone from italy email me this week, saying:

"Hi, how much is shipping to Italy ? I hope its not 30GBP because it would be way too much..."

This comment was in relation to the fact that the same item is priced at £27.99 courier to Germany.

    I replied:

    "It would actually be £31.99"

And was glad of the fact that put them off.

I have posted to ebay customers in Italy 4 times in the past 6 months or so. The first 2 times the goods were via international signed for and they arrived quite promptly and safely. The last 2 times however the goods werent very expensive and so i sent them by standard airmail. Low and behold the customers never recieved their orders. I have never had such problems posting anywhere else in the world by standard airmail and so the moral of the story is never post to Italy unless by international signed for as there posties are obviously a bunch of filthy thieving greaseball b'stardos!!

If it involves "official" processes such as being signed for they are spot on as they are anal about the correct paperwork and procedures.

    If it doesn't!!!!!!!
