I have tried Googling but getting information overload so if anyone can tell me the right type of batteries to get I would be grateful. My new camera is coming next week and I have always bought from 7day shop if anyone has a link. I already have a Uniross 4 battery charger.

Thanks

  • Anything with a very high capacity.. i think they go up to 2700mAh

Something like this should be good - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Uniross-2700mAh-Rechargeable-Battery-Ni-Mh/dp/B000IZJ39Q

I believe the gadget show website does a review of batteries

Also the duracell Supreme or activ charge batteries can get them quite cheap on ebay and theyre 2650mah well the supreme ones are i think i paid £6 for 4. and if you need a charger for £16something argos do one with 4 2700mah batteries.

It depends what is the most important thing for you: price, overall capacity, shelf life or reliability. (You also don't say what size battery it takes, but most seem to take AA).

If you want the cheapest, I'd go for 7dayshop's own brand 2800mAh NiMh at £6 for 4. I've bought quite a few of these and they have good capacity. But they are also not the most reliable - I've had several that just die and refuse to take a charge.

For reliabilty I'd go for the Panasonic Accu 2700mAh ones - I've also had quite a few different Panasonic batteries and never had any duds.

For shelf life I'd go for the Panasonic Infineum 2100mAh. You compromise on overall capacity, but there's much less chance of your camera dying on you just because it's been sitting on the shelf for a couple of months.

Thanks for the full reply and I should of said AA size. Since posting I have found a batch of batteries from 8/9 years ago but tried charging and all dead now. I know they are dead, and not the charger, as I found some newer ones but only two and they have charged up OK.

I like to use the ones which are made for diditsl cameras like this one:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=220404847730

I find that you do not have to wait as long for flash and warm up etc

That is a real cheap and nasty charger, that takes at least 12 hours overnight to charge the low capacity 2000 mAh batteries supplied with it!

A much better delta V microprocessor controlled charger here supplied with 4 x 2500 mAh batteries. Higher capacity 2800 mAh batteries are also available here if required.

The Fuji batteries and charger are second rate and not made especially for digital cameras. Cheap tat in comparison!
