Unauthorise transaction

Hi,
Last year I was using one of the payday uk sites on a monthly basis for about a year without any problems. I defaulted around November as things were getting tight etc. . .They have been chasing me for the money via debt collection agencies whom I have now made an agreement with. .. Anyway, this morning I noticed the payday company had gone in for all the money I owed them and had been successful. . . I dont dispute I owe the money but feel this is an unauthorised transaction. . I have had no contact with them directly for many months now and certainly have not given them permission to request the funds. I have made an agreement with a debt agency (in writing) to pay this off. Naturally they wont refund it as I do owe it. . ....My bank says its not fraud as I had a contract with them and gave them my debit card details. . . . Can anyone offer me advice on making a claim for the money back, maybe on the visa debit scheme? Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks . . .

You've paid what you owe now. One less debt to worry about!
How much did they take?
I suggest getting your debit card cancelled and re-issued - that will stop historic problems like this happening.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
I would also get them to tell the debt collection people that they now have their money0

This is why the debt charities advise NEVER to give your credit or debit card details to debt collectors as they can't be trusted to stick to their side of the agreement and the banks will always side with them.
You could go down the route of complaining and eventually passing it to the FOS, but that won't get your money back quickly. It might teach the company not to do dodgy stuff like that if more people complained.
If you can just about manage this month at least you are now free of the debt, if however you can't cover other debt arrangements you could try this as an arguement in your complaint letter that you have other debt obligations so you have to apportion any income equally between them.
Sorry, good luck for the future
