yorkshire bank

Hi all,

im claiming financial hardship re. my bank charges with Yorkshire bank.

basically, im unemployed and struggling to keep my head above water with my credit card payments and basic living costs. Fortunately, I live at home with my Mum and both her and dad have helped me a little financially, if it wasn't for them my situation would be far worser.

anyway, i wrote to YB claiming financial hardship around 2 months ago (ish).

they replied and sent me back a letter confirming they have my claim, and that they will investigate the matter. they said, they hoped to have an answer for me in 4 weeks of issue of there letter, and if this time limit wasn't met, they would provide me with instructions to contact the financial ombusman. they said they couldn't guarantee a reply in 4 weeks because they'd received a high volume of claims. they also said they would inform me if they were unable to conform to the 4 week limit.

anyway, 4 weeks passed and they wrote a letter apologising, saying they havn't yet been able to sufficently investigate the matter and advised me of my rights of referal to the financial ombusman.

in between the letter arriving, i actually phoned up there offices in Leeds and spoke to a lady. the lady did, indeed, confirm they had a large work load of cases claiming hardship and this was, obviously, slowing down the process.

is there any point in me contacting the financial ombusman?

or do you think i should just hang fire until YB get around to investigating my claim?

Thanks,

Warren

If they have high volumes of claims perhaps they might want to get more people to work for them cos that's not your fault. FOS it is after 8 weeks from receipt of letter 1.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

I'll check exactly to see how much time has passed since the first letter was sent.

    Cheers mate
